The global mining industry presents some of the most complex
and demanding scientific, engineering and technical challenges
in the world today, as it attempts to meet resource needs in
a cost effective and environmentally sustainable manner while
improving the safety and health of its workers. To help meet
these challenges, four of the world’s premier mining related
R&D organizations have created the Global Mining Research Alliance
(GMRA), a collaboration that aims to become the supplier of
choice for mining research solutions and knowledge in the international
mining and resources industry. The partners forming the Alliance
are CANMET-MMSL (Canada), CSIR Miningtek (South Africa), and
CSIRO Exploration and Mining (Australia), in association with
NIOSH (USA).
The GMRA represents the pooling of the world’s best research
expertise and laboratory facilities. The GMRA undertakes collaborative
research designed to benefit the industry in technologies
associated with mineral exploration and resource management,
extractive technologies, ground control, occupational health
and safety, equipment automation, mineral processing, and
the environment. Our clients are domestic and multi-national
mining corporations, industry associations, governments, multi-lateral
agencies, and key industry stakeholders.
The GMRA invites inquiries related to contract research
opportunities from around the world. For more information
on how we can design a research program for your needs, please
contact any of the partner organizations, or call Roy
Sage at 1 (613) 947-6604.
The GMRA welcomes enquiries in regard to potential research
projects from around the world.
